The Answer is always yes.

Lyle, the minister for this service writes, “This [recounting] makes me smile.

The reading is from 2 Corinthians 1:18-20

18As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been ‘Yes and No.’ 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not ‘Yes and No’; but in him it is always ‘Yes.’ 20For in him every one of God’s promises is a ‘Yes.’ For this reason it is through him that we say the ‘Amen’, to the glory of God.

I wanted to invite the children to experience these words, that in Jesus, every one of God’s promises is a “yes!” I expected they might ask for candy, or ice cream, or to go out and play, and I was prepared to say “yes” to any of that. I was not as prepared as our son clearly was in that moment to ask for what he really wanted. We had a puppy a very short time after and he was a wonderful dog.

Peace,

lyle”
