High school student comments:
Before she spoke, she looked like a lovely lady. Despite receiving threats, her husband and her kept with their plans on getting up their plot of land of over 200 acres.Humble – the ripple effect change my perspective on how little decisions could have major positive or negative repercussions– Returning her land and her contributions to Mexico probably shaped those children’s lives for the better.
Very compassionate and kind. Her views on racism as well as community were very eye-opening.
Marion was very interesting to listen to. I really like her point to make a wave. I like how wise and knowledgeable Marion was.
Marion obviously sees all the good in people and looks past what people look like. I was surprised that such a gentle, quiet person has made such a difference. I was floored and was inspired by her accomplishments.
Was very selfless.Soft spoken, humble.Very positive.
Marion is a really sweet woman without a mean bone in her body. I thought it was generous and moral of her to give the land back to the First Nations.I do believe her act of kindness will create a wave in further acceptance of diversity, as well as generosity towards others.
I am blown away by Marion , I want to be like her. Giving, caring, giving the benefit of the doubt.
I was surprised by her hiring an antagonist person and how that turned out.
Her experiences and decisions stood out. I think her strong will to do what she thinks will make the most positive impact, despite what others think, was inspiring.
She has done so many incredible things in her life what you would never expect if you didn’t take the time to get to know her. This helps me to realize for that train trip, that asking questions is to really learn peoples life story is so worth while. Everyone has stories and experiences to share.
Marion has done a lot. I enjoyed her “against the grain” lifestyle.
Her artwork was very well created. I wonder what stories they tell and what happened that made her decide to create art.
Experience give you a perspective you can share with others.
Amazing she returned the first Nations land back to them out of respect.
She used what she is good at to help the less fortunate and sacrificed a lot or her normal life to help these children.
Hired a former friend to help out First Nations who was clearly threatening and racist toward Marion’s decision to give her the land back to the first Nations. It was an attempt to change their view of first Nations to make them less skeptical of the unknown through education.
Small change or ripple in society becomes a wave of good.
Experience gives you a perspective you can share with others.
Very comfortable and concise.
